They start working but on the 6th day another 9 joins them.

So there is only 5 days of work before!

Assuming they are working 8 to 5, with an hour for lunch, they should finish at 2:20pm on the 22nd day.

since the 18 workers worked for 5 days, they did 1/6 of the job.
if 18 workers finish the job in 30 days, 27 workers do it in 18*30/27=20 days
but they only have to do 5/6 of the job together, because the rest is already done, so they have to work 5/6*20 days=50/3~17 days (all 27 workers)
so the whole job is finished in 5+17~=22 days

Well they finished the job on the sixth because only 18 workers can finiosh the job in 30 days so another 9 joins them! so they dont get to finish the job!

Well 30 days then take away 6 witch is 24 then divide 30 witch is 15. you divide it because half 18 is 9 so u want to add the 9 so add 15 + 24 = 39. so theres ur answer 9 more days than they were supposed to be working!!!!
