My daughter is 7mos. along, I have gotten all the "needed" baby stuff for her, stroller, bassinet, swing, bouncer etc. Want to get just "her" something for xmas that isn't a maternity shirt. Since she can't fit into her size 3 pants at the moment, buying clothes isn't practical right now. Does anyone have any suggestions for gifts, I would really appreciate ideas....I have none......

Does she have a gown, robe and slippers (with non-skid bottoms) for the hospital? The robe and slippers are a must because they will tell you to get up and walk a bit while in the hospital. My husband bought me a belly band to help support my back during my last tri-mester. That was great.

Gift certificates for maid services or restaurants for carryout meals after the baby is born will come in handy. Or a gift certificate for a store she likes to buy herself some new clothes after the baby is born. Gift certificates for a salon or spa are nice too to get a little pampering.

Jewelry! That was the first thing I thought of, but I see others had the same suggestion. Make sure whatever you buy is returnable.

As a side note, That basinett that you bought for her won't last very long. Those baby months just fly by. With some kids, they can sit up at 7-8 months and you don't want your grandchild falling out. I don't know how big it is, but we just used a baby crib from the very beginning. It was cheaper for us than buying both. So I suggest getting a large crib that a child can use until he or she is well past 2 years old. (You know this already, I'm sure). If She doesn't have a crib buy that for her birthday.

Coming from someone who was 8 months pregnant at Christmas a few years ago, I really like the jewelry idea or the massage, and totally agree with not getting her something too baby related. The baby's being spoiled enough, and your daughter is going to "lose herself" to that baby soon enough. Give her something that makes her feel like a woman- not a mom, not someone who's having a baby, but just someone who's loved. Save the mom stuff for mother's day.

something that doesn't focus on the baby. baby gifts are nice but when i was pregnant at Xmas time *both times* it irritated me to get "baby gifts" for ME. that kind of made me feel like everyone was just thinking about the baby and not me. i know that sounds silly, but you know those pregnancy hormones.

maybe a cute necklace, or a bracelet that says something about being a mom, or an engraved locket with a place to put her new babies picture after she/he arrives. oh that would be so sweet! it 'includes' the new baby, BUT it focuses on the mommy!

When my sister was pregnant my mother bought her a ring that had to dolphins forming a heart (because my sister loves dolphins) and she loved it because it was kind of a "baby and me" reminder but it was also something that was grown-up and something that she could enjoy long after the pregnancy was over. To this day my sister only took the ring off once since she got it (and that was only to get a part of it repaired).

A pampered day at a spa. And clean her house for her while she's gone.
