Unless there's some huge movement afoot that I'm not aware of, most events like this are planned to suit the people who are doing it/having it done.

A party is always good.... You could always have a smaller more intimate group for the blessing ritual itself if you wanted to.

I would set up a special altar in each room, with items representing your hopes for the room, and that are symbolic of how the room will be used. The altars can be small or large, and either stay or be dismantled after the event. You can use a small table, a part of a table, mantle, windowsill, whatever.. be creative. In the bathroom you could fill the tub with water and float candles in it. The kitchen altar could have a nice bowl with fruit and nuts and a pot of honey. And so on.... You coudl maybe incorporate things from the yard of the new house..like flowers or nuts or even nice rocks if you find them.

I would choose a prayer or reading for each room, either along with or instead of standard words of blessing. It might be cool to make a booklet with all the prayers as a souvenir for the people who attend. Chanting is always a good thing, in my opinion. Sometimes water is sprinkled or branches are waved, or sage burned, to "cleanse" the rooms.

Depends on your religion and culture. Food and drink are universal activities. These are a must. What about singing or dancing or games or sharing memories or sharing church history?
