I appreciate marble and looking at it... it depends on the look you are seeking! Modern, Classic, Casual, Funky!!!
I personally prefer the casual chic ;-) I wouldn't use marble but as I said I appreciate it whenever its placed in the right place!

You now have another option. There is a manufactured stone that looks like granite, and has the sheen of marble. It is made to order for your counter tops so there is very little waste which means better value. Ultimately you have to decide what you want. Call several places where you live and have them bring out samples so you can see what they look like next to your cabinets. Then find out about future care, durability, and last, or maybe first, compare cost.

I like granite, but it's too much upkeep and cost. Check out this, something different I came across. Trespa, It's a solid surface material they use in laboratories. Much cheaper, but more rugged than Corian. The company will send you free samples. www.trespa.com. You can choose TopLab plus, Athlon, or Meteon. See what you think.

If you dont know what ur looking at, then the answer is marble because it has a higher gloss factor. I personally prefer granite, because its more durable.
