yes - dogs sense of smell is far beyond that of humans. They will remeber a person scent for years, and also if it ascociated with good or bad.
for example: My cousin came from overseas for 2 weeks, and then he came back 5 years later - and my dog remembered him. he was happy and didnt feel threatened by my cousins precense like he usualy would to strangers.

Dogs have a remarkable sense of smell, and memory....and can usually remember a scent, especially if it is associated with something either good or bad.
