Hi,
I am thinking about putting up a tile backsplash. I was told by the company that sells the tin backsplash tiles that I should probably remove the ceramic tiles first. I have never removed a ceramic tile backsplash before. How hard is this to do? About how long will it take? Do you think I will damage the wallboard below. Just don't want to get in over my head. Any advice at all would be so appreciated!!!

I think the best for you is to go to the store and buy a chisel, then hammer down the tiles one by one, but just make sure you don't hit your fingers..☺

It's not difficult. Use a stout putty knife or cold chisel and a hammer. Put the knife or chisel at a low angle and tap with a hammer along the grout lines. By keep the angle low, meaning close to parallel with the wall you'll reduce the chances of chipping out the backer board. Even if you do chip it you can fill in the spots with a cement based product or drywall mud. Don't know how long it would take, depends on the size of the backspash and how hard you hit the tiles. Good luck.

Yeah its fairly easy-alot easier then putting it up. I would use a a small mud knife and hammer or even a big flathead screwdriver and a hammer and just position like a chisel.
