It's normal for you to have your period any time during the week off hormonal contraceptives. Don't worry! You are not late. I don't use the ring, I use 'the pill', but the hormones and the way it works is the same except where they enter your body. I usually don't get my period until the 3rd or 4th day of my week off.

Also, since you are new to the Nuva ring, it's possible that your body is still adjusting to the hormones (don't worry you're still protected) and you may not experience a period. Just put your new ring in on time and see what happens next month. It's also normal for women to miss a period while taking hormonal contraceptives from time to time. If you miss two periods in a row, see your doctor.

Remember, hormonal contraceptives are NOT harmful during early pregnancy and do NOT cause abortions. Always start your new month of medication even if you do not get your period on time unless you have been advised otherwise by your doctor or have found out that you are pregnant. This way you are not compromising your protection against pregnant or risking increased side effects/more of a mess to your cycle.

You will start, and you will probably be on when you have to put the new ring in. I don't like the Nuva Ring.

Call the doctors office that prescibed it, Nuva Ring is fairly new so it would be best to ask them.

just follow the 3 week/1 week routine as directed, and everything will work out. but also schedule an appointment with your doctor and ask her.
