my short haired dog goes through the same thing. when the weather gets cold, your dog will shed his thinner summer coat and growing out his thicker winter coat. when it heats up, he'll shed the think winter coat and grow a thin summer coat. prepare yourself for tons of dog hair all over your house twice a year.

if he starts to scratch it from time to time, it's only because his skin is dry now that the weather is getting cold. that can easily be solved with some sort of fish oil vitamins from the pet store. i'd only worry about a skin allergy or something more serious if he starts to itch the same spots constantly.

Well my dogs shed regularly.
Yes, shedding is a seasonal thing, though this does not exclude other possibilities of some allergy or sickness.

He might be allergic to some of the foods he is taking, as individual dogs seem to have different allergies to different foods.
My dogs love to eat fish, but this really causes them to start shedding their hair.
Dont feed them chocolates as this is posoin to them.

My German Shepherds shed all year round, it's got nothing to do with feed and more to do with central heating, some dogs adjust to central heating some don't so this could be your dogs problem . By the way none of my dogs have ever gone bald because of it either!

My shepard had a bad problem with shedding until I changed her food. Your dog may also have an allergy to something in your home or around your yard. What kind of flea control have you used? What are you using to bathe them with? But the best bet is consult your vet. And if you can't afford a vet visit your local humane society can help to. Our humane society helps out with things like this to try to keep the pet in the home.

see your vet, but some short haired dogs will shed all year round. Are you finding just light patches of hair or is it like big clumps?

your dog should not be losing hair if its getting a winter coat, it should be GAINING hair.
it should only shed hair in the summer time.
check with your vet, i wouldnt mind betting that your dog has some sort of skin problem

hair shedding may be due to several factors and climate is one
parasitic and vitamin deficiency may also be the cause.
