I have been using Livetype for graphics and lower thirds and such. But now, I feel like it is just not enough, putting together pre-made graphics. What other graphics program for a Mac would you recommend I try? Also, the Windows suggestions are OK. I have both.

Motion is good, although I haven't used it much, it's a lot better for creating motion in graphics than FCP. (I've asked for a Motion manual for Christmas...lol) Just in case you don't know, Motion comes with Final Cut Studio. I haven't used Adobe's After Effects, but from what I hear, that's a powerful program. Motion is very intuitive, and the working environment is streamlined. I've made a DVD menu and a video with stills. Integration with FCP is integrated as well.

If you want to really do some kick butt stuff, Apple's Shake is the way to go. It used to be $4,000 but just recentl they've lowered the price to just $500. They use it in Hollywood for special effects and uses a type of "node" system, that from what I hear, takes a while to get used to, but once you do, everything else seems primitave.
