Jesus made claims about himself recorded in many historical documents. He claimed several things about himself. He directly claimed to be:

1) the Jewish Messiah
2) the Son of God
3) the only mediator between God and man
4) the source of everlasting life
5) sent by God
6) of another world
7) authorized to forgive sins

Most believe he was a good man or a great teacher, some say he was a prophet, but with these claims about himself, he can only be one of two things - either he had to be a liar and idiot for playing such a cruel joke on his followers, or he had to be telling the truth and really was the Messiah, son of God, savior of the world. Many Jewish prophecies point to a Messiah and their criteria match him perfectly. They didn't recognize it at the time and ended up crucifying him, but hindsight is 20/20. Furthermore, they were fulfilling prophecies unknowingly by doing this! His testimony was also backed by tons of miracles (not slight of hand stuff).

There is no doubt that Jesus existed and the historical documents about him prove he is as real as any other figure in history. I believe in what the culmination of these documents say, the claims that he made about himself, and the message of love that he proclaimed. I believe he lived, gave up his life on the cross, was buried and rose again just as these documents record. But he didn't just do this all for fun - he did it to pay the spiritual death penalty for your sin and mine, so that all who believe in him "should not perish but have everlasting life", just as He claimed.

I believe this is as much as I believe George Washington was president. Both take what you might call "blind faith".

I don't think it matters whether he was God, the Son of God, the Messiah, a Prophet, or just a human. The point is, he sent a positive message to his followers, and he has put Jews, Christians and Muslims on the same page--all expecting the same Messianic Age.

Unfortunately, Christology has sparked many debates and even persecutions. Look at the poor ebionites. For the Christians and the Muslims, his influence is certain and well-defined. Others should respect that, even if they disagree, but the Christians and the Muslims must reciprocate such respect.

He's awesome! He was so brave and loving, that he endured torture, just so that I could live in heaven with him and his father. I love him so much! He loves you too! And he died, trying very hard to make sure you knew that before you die. I am soo amazed that Jesus gave up his life for me, a sinner. Every time I sin, it's like I'm adding to the pain he had to feel because he took on all my sins at once. Just the sins I have commited this year put an enormous pressure on him, and yet he died for me, hapily! I can only imagine what heaven is right now, but I am so thankful that Christ died so that I can find out! Thank you, Jesus!

P.S. I love your sn. Playing devil's advocate is fun, and usefull to your own arguments! Keep up the good work and thoughtfull questions!

I think if he actually existed he was like hundreds of other poor Jews who died on a cross at the hands of the Romans. He was a religious leader of the common people. People like Saul saw an opportunity to make a name for themselves by spreading a false doctrine regarding him. The false belief in him grew with the help of Saul. I believe without Saul no one today would ever know Jesus existed. As it turns out the false belief in him covered one third of the earth then begin to decline. xx

Watch the BBC mini-series on Jesus. I really enjoyed it. It mentioned things about how the stars had a special alignment at the time of his birth.

Jesus is mentioned in the BIble and by the first century jewish historian and roman records. (i think, not sure about the romans, but look into it)

I believe He is the Christ, the Son of God. My lord and savior.

I honestly can't wrap my mind around Jesus. I know he's real and he's our savior, but I don't get him. When I think about God, I think about the the universe and all that's in it, and I suppose I lump in Jesus with that, He being part of the Trinity and all.

hard to tell.
a lot of things in the bible are made up, like noahs ark and all that crap.
he must also have a really big brain to create life like it is today.
and if he is our savior, then how come so many people die because of him?
if you think about it, many of the wars were caused by others wanting others to practice their religion.
and how come man, the supposed superior being, is destroying and contaminating the earth with filth, greed, and ignorance?
and how come thousands of men, woman, and children are dying each year of poverty?

Who can think about Jesus when they are busy looking at you. Oh, my... Jack Sparrow I love you!

OK. Jesus is the Son of God. He could do great things. A great wizard/shaman sort of man. Wise, very holy. Still alive and anything you ask God in His name will be granted to you.

Hum...

God, Savior, the Perfect Human, just but merciful, strong but run but love....
If only all Christians actually acted like Him, There would be no "Christian wars" or church scandals or "Crusades" or "Inquisitions" or other disgraceful garbage like that.... We'd all have world peace.
