I was recently researching on the web on dog foods for no particular reason, and found that apparently, the commercial food brands (Hills, and Eukanuba) that I had been feeding my two Pomeranians, weren't using exactly the best of ingredients. I was very upset after seeing what the food was really concocted of after a little more web browsing, and so I asked many people about what dog food they'd reccomend. Almost everyone told me to go for Innova, and so I decided to go and buy that. Unfortunately, all of the stores that I went to, which included: Petsmart, Petco, and Trader Joe's, didn't supply it.

So frankly, does anyone know where I could get the Innova dog food brand here in Southern CA? I've been feeding my Poms just some rice and a mixture of vegetables along with some chicken and dietary supplements lately, as I'm too scared to even touch any of their old food now. I feel uncomfortable doing so though, especially as one absolutely hates brushing her teeth.

So.. Help please?

Ah, okay. Thanks very much for the help. I'll try and head on out tommorow to see if I can get the brands from the addresses that were provided. Heh, my absolute zero knowledge on cooking really tired me out, as of late; this is a relief, of some sorts - for both me and my Poms, I think. I doubt the mess I made for them was very tasty. xD

Other great quality kibbles, are Canidae (my fav) Wellness, Natural Balance, Solid Gold. and Wysong...they will likely be in same shops as Innova.

If you are in Orange County, you can get Innova from the Feed Barn on the corner of Orangethorpe and Lemon in Fullerton, CA. If you are in LA you will have to call around. Do a search on Google for Innova Dog Food Retailers So. Cal. Innova dog food has cottage cheese in it. If your dogs are allergic to milk products, you do not want to feed Innova. Science Diet and Eukanuba are not the best dog foods. The vets recommend them because they supply their text books for vet school. It's I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine. There are other dog foods besides Innova that are also good and use human grade ingredients.

They are called Holistic or Organic:
Life's Abundance
Timberwolf Organics
Wysong
Wellness
Solid Gold, etc.

Your dogs will thank you for it. God bless and good luck.

Let me tell you that I fell into that same Innova trap. I also saw that article about what is in dog food and now I think it was exaggerated to scare us. I have a chihuahua that is a picky eater, so I really researced it before I ordered the Innova. I ordered it from their website and just ordered the smallest amount I could get at first in case she would not eat it.
Well, she would not eat it and neither would our other two dogs who will eat anything. I have a 100+ pound Lab who will eat rocks and sticks and he would not touch it. I tried to give it to my daughter who has two dogs and they would not eat it either. Finally I put the very expensive food out in the backyard for the stray cats and it stayed there until it dissolved from the rain. All the advertisement about how the Innova has no animal by products and how it is baked twice, etc. but they fail to mention that it also has no taste or else tastes terrible. I don't know because I did not taste it even though they say it is fit for human consumption. I make my own food for my chihuahua now and she loves it. I give her vitamins daily and I cook a mixture of ground chicken and ground beef with some garlic powder sprinkled on it until it is brown, and then I put it in the freezer. I take out enough for one meal and microwave it and add some canned veg-all and a big spoon of cottage cheese and she loves it. I leave out dry food (Purina Little Bites) all the time so she can nibble on it if she gets hungry any other time during the day and I give her a treat (usually peanut butter dog biscuit or chicken chewie) once a day. She is prefectly healthy and the vet says she is fine.
Please don't waste your money on the Innova or at least get a small bag until you see if your little one will eat it.

My chihuahua eats Innova Evo. He loves it! I sprinkle a touch of parmesan cheese on top and he gobbles it down. There are lots of stores in SoCal that carry it. The thing about quality pet food companies is that they never sell to chain stores...you have to seek out the smaller, locally owned ones. I hope your dogs like it, you're doing them a real favour by switching...good luck!
