A french kiss is when both partners use their tongues for arousal. Each person massages each other's tongue with their own tongue while kissing. That is a french kiss in a nut shell.

It originated in France, I suppose. Its when you kiss (both people with the mouth open) and your tongues actually enter the other persons mouth at differrent times and they sort of mingle with each other.
