Hey Im no Religious lover or nut, but I am a non smoker by choice, it killed four of my family members already, breast cancer, lung cancer, brain cancer and again lung cancer.
It is not Christians that are trying to outlaw smoking in public, it is mostly former smokers turned non smoking with a vigiliance. Some are of course have always been non smokers like me.
I personally do not wish to see it outlawed, that goes against the very principle the USA was founded on, freedom of choice. The outdoors is public and for everyone and I am the first to defend a smokers right to smoke in public, just as I am the first to ask that same smoker not to smoke on an airplane because they cannot control their habbit. That is no longer public space.
Sure because it is the USA many of them are Christians by birth, but I would hardly say that Religion is the reason people want smoking banned, I really think it is mostly former zealout smokers hell bent on imposing their new clear headeness onto you wether you want it or not. That is who you need to worry about, your own kind turned non smokers. They are worst than us lifers like me. Most lifers have a respect for both sides I know.
Americans can be very prudish at time, look at prohibition, they tried it and it failed. I do hope they learned from prohibition and never ever consider banning smoking as a whole or in public.

Are they really all Christians? Or does it seem that way, to you. Most of the people I know smoke daily, and more than half of them are Christians. Of course one every minutes does sound a BIT much. I'm surprised that you're alive. Do you have a hole in your neck? I'm sorry. That was a mean question. Just, be careful.
And btw, no...I am not a Christian. And, I do share your sentiment for that cliche "gods temple". It's one of the reasons why I strayed from the cumbersome religion. And I can say cumbersome because I know that Christianity wants you to take up your own cross and carry it.

well i don't really give a stuff about christians wanting to outlaw them my opinion is this I smoke the magick green gift from God , which is illegal yet no where near as dangerous as alcohol or your filthy cancer sticks, but yet both these substances are completely legal , It's either one or the other you outlaw alcohol and tobacco or you legalize every other drug , there's no difference most drug deaths result from unclean manufacture or unmeasured doses , look what happens when alcohols made illegally the same thing there was a great example with 30 or so people dying from toxic hepatitis , so you guys keep smoking your tobacco and your alcohol I have no problem with that but if you do these and think anything elses should be illegal then your a hypocrite

You know, I think Christianity is crap, but I agree with forcing people to stop smoking. My mother died of lung cancer and chances are that at least one other person in my family will too because they all smoke.
You'll NEVER convince me thats a good thing. You didn't see her at the end. It was mercy when she was finally dead because no one deserves to suffer that way.
I think YOU need to get a life and you won't get one so long as you continue to slowly kill yourself.

Yeah, i've never really gotten the satisfaction some people get by telling people they are wrong. I think it is called Christian accountability or something. I think some people are such losers that they get off telling others what is and what isn't wrong.
I think the public smoking ban is related to secondhand smoke studies more so than christianity though.

I'm not Christian and I can't stand when people smoke indoors at public places. There's no reason why I can't enjoy a nice drink without being forced to inhale someone else's filthy habit.

I don't think it is just them or even them. I think it is people that don't want to smell it or breath it in. Being a smoker I see their point of view and every day I think I am going to stop these thing and every day I don't. I just need to get a better back bone and save my money at the same time.

Most of the Christians I know don't care. It's the non-religous, the Vegans, the Vegitarians and yes, even the atheists that seem to care the most!
And they ALL drive cars and dump a ton of smoke into the air each day and they don't view themselves as being nasty!

And your proof that it is Christians doing this? It is not Christians that are doing this, it is hard core liberals who think they can dictate how everyone should live. They want to take away cigarettes, but want to make marijuana legal. Figure that one out.

I think it's more than Christians who don't like breathing in second hand smoke. In fact, this may be one thing Christians and Atheist agree upon.
