I bought some software from Office depot one time. It was printshop pro or something like that, I only paid like $50 for it but after I had it for a few months I tried to get in onto a different computer and it said something about it expiring and gave me an option to buy it.right next to that it said to enter the code for it, which I did and thats when it said the expiration thing, I don't get it.
do I have to keep buying them that often? I just want to know because I don't want to pay a whole lot for something really good and expensive and then only be able to have it for a few months.

Some software has a limited license agreement that prevents you from installing it on more than one computer. That is likely what happened to you. The first time you installed the software it probably self-registered with the company's website. Then, when you tried to register it again, the website says, "no, you've already used this license". So, yes, you will probably have to purchase it again unless you can get ahold of the company's sales support department and have them unregister your previous license.

This is one reason you shouldn't buy software. Go to www.download.com and download limewire or bitcomet and find the software you want and download it for free. Watch for software with viruses and other stuff. But you can mostly find what you are looking for.

no... you should not have to pay more for it. It might have been just an upgrade option. Virus protections are usually the only programs you need to buy by the year.
