I make a wicked fruit salad - infact I think I'll make some tonight.

Just squeeze the juice of a lemon into a small pot. 1 - 2 teaspoons of honey, warm in micro for 30 secs and then add to the fruit. Stir around and then leave to sit for a while to absorb the lovely flavours. Simple. Sugar does not taste the same at all.

Oh, the honey is best runny to start with.

Great with cold vanilla custard. Sad, I cannot have that anymore!

FYI - if this is have been given cool whip or marshmellows.. this isn't any longer fruit salad. only p.c.. out some effective end result (melons, apples, pineapple, naval oranges, grapes (seedless green and pink), grapefruit (pink is actual effective, or pink), strawberries, etc. Wash, and decrease up right into a huge bowl which you will cover... whether this is masking with plastic wrap. in case you may, p.c.. up some orange liquere (Curaçao, Grand Marnier, Cointreau) and positioned a splash in the salad. If no longer, upload a splash pineapple juice, or orange juice or the two. blend and cover nicely and refrigerate for a minimum of two hours. in case you like you may toss in a splash sugar in case you like it sweeter. As for the organic juices, including the juices as I pronounced is an determination. See how interestingly devoid of it for roughly an hour. Then in case you nevertheless think of it desires some liquid, upload some or the two between the juices.

i know it's not quite the same as fruit salad, but if you use canned fruit cocktail, here's a suggestion:
since my mom is half vietnamese, growing up we had a traditional asian dessert with fruit cocktail and a white almond jelly. it doesn't have a strong almond taste, and mixed with the sweet fruit cocktail, it's the best! if you've never tried it, you should. you can buy the almond jelly at any major supermarket in the international section. the powder mix comes in a bag and you prepare it pretty much like jello. once it's set and cooled, cut it up in little squares and mix with a can of fruit cocktail. such a simple and good dessert!

RUM LIME SAUCE
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
2 tsp. lime zest
6 tablespoon lime juice
1/2 cup rum
Bring sugar and water to boil; simmer 5 minutes. Add lime zest, and cool to room temperature. Stir in lime juice and rum. Chill. Pour over prepared fresh fruit, and continue chilling for several hours. Garnish with mint.
Also fantastic using champagne in place of rum.

You could use flavored yougurt. My mom used to make a salad using a can of fruit cocktail, mayo, pinch of salt and a Tbs. of sugar. Sometimes she would add sliced bananas, manderin oranges or mini marshmallows. mmmmm!

Basically... this is how I do my fruit salad...
I cut in fruit of my choice... Strawberry, Pineapples, mangoes...etc.

I add in one teaspoon of rose water.. YES ROSE WATER!
It adds aroma and taste to the salad...

At the very end I pour in on of the following juices: Guava, Mango, or pineapple Juice.

That way... you dont need to add in anything more.. its all enough and so hmm hmmm good ;-)

They sell thick whipping cream that looks like cool whip but does not have sugar in it. Try that!
