I had a bank claim that they had to hold my gov't paycheck?

I thought paychecks and gov't checks were not allowed to be held past 3 days, anybody know the truth?

well it's sad to say that the bank puts a hold on any check if it's over a certain amount specially if your balance is lower that the check that you deposit, because they have to verify funds.they will specially do this if you use the ATM next time you should go inside the bank.
