How long your hair can grow is a genetically predetermined thing, but there are things you can do to encourage it to reach the full potential length. First of all, you can avoid using any sort of chemical products on it to change the color, straighten it, or otherwise change the basic underlying character of the hair. You can eat a good diet, with the protein needed to grow the hair to start with. Use a gentle shampoo and conditioner as often as needed, and be very gentle handling the hair itself. No dragging a brush or comb through it, no teasing, no tiny tight braids. Find a good stylist who can keep the ends trimmed neatly and help you find the products that help keep the hair healthy once it's grown out from your head. Keep your scalp in good condition as well. Avoid hair extensions, hair spray, hair dryers, curling irons and straightening irons. With luck and time, your hair may get past your shoulders or even longer, depending on your genetics. Just don't try to make it something it isn't and don't try to make it do what it wasn't meant to do. Enjoy your hair the way it grows and adapt a style that supports that. Natural beauty always looks best and most flattering to any woman, rather than a hairstyle that has to be sculpted and glued into place, using hair that isn't yours, in a color nature never designed for a human head. Your hair is naturally curly and thick, so enjoy it. Revel in what you have, girl. There are loads of women who grow thin straight hair, and would love to have what you do. I haven't got a curl that wasn't put there, although it's plenty thick. So I get perms and keep it short. I had it down my back at one time, but I had to pamper it, and live without the gorgeous curls. So you will have to decide which you want, long and healthy- but the way it grows, or stylish and trendy- but cropped and assisted. Just use good hair care products and a stylist who listens to you and knows her stuff.

Don't put chemicals in it. The less damage you do to it the more healthy it is. Maintain it by trims every 2 months.
