Children learn to use the potty at their own rate. If she wakes up in the morning and she is dry, you can start potty training her. If she is aware of when she has to go, you can start training her. My daughter was 2 1/2 when I knew she was ready. She would hide when she had a bowel movement, so I knew she was ready. Your daugher will show signs. The important thing to do is not rush it. That can cause bedwetting or accidents during the day.

There is no hard and fast rule about the right age for potty training. It should be done only when u feel ur child is ready. Now the million dollare question is "How to know when ur child is ready?"
The answer is....
If ur girl takes nap in afternoon for more than 45 minutes... change her diaper before putting her in bed and when she wakes up chk her diaper. If its stil dry.. it means that she has gained some control and u can start intoducing the concept of sitting on potty.

DOnt rush.. let her take her time.

As a pre-school teacher (2-3 yr olds) for 13 years, I found that as long as you give the child the means to explore potty training themselves (including following you and her mother to the restroom, a child sized seat that she doesn't need help with, and ready access to her own underwear) they will inevitably do it on their own.

This prevents any frustration you or she may have during the process, and therapy bills down the line... ;}

GOOD LUCK! She's on her way!

You dont have to, my mother waited to potty train my sister till she was about 2.5 all most 3 years old. its really up to the child..... just try and see for now if he/she cant do it right away, just let it be, try again in a few months maybe he/she would be ready then.

it is worth a shot to try, but she'll know when she is ready, but try her out, get her a potty seat and big girl underwear, shell probably like getting new things like that and it will motivate her to work hard at it. some kids dont become potty trained until they are 3 or older, so try it out now, and if she isnt ready give it a shot again in a couplde months.

Once you are certain your child is ready for potty training I recommend this book Toilet Training in Less Than A Day by Nathan Azrin. I used this method with both of my children. It works and it is much less stress for both parent and child.

I think that if you have a two-year-old daughter, you should have been potty-trained long ago....

You could at least familiarize her with it. If you have some time to focus closely for a few days you can tell if she is ready or not. Try to be relaxed about it and it will happen. For sure she won't still be in diapers when she is ten.
