The closest English pronunciation: jin-ee-tsee ("jin" like in "jin and tonic").
It does not mean pretty, it means "nearly just word"

Synonyms, that's what it means, not pretty. Pretty is ç¾éº or æ¼äº®. It's pronounced like this in Cantonese: gun ye che and jin4 ye1 che2, I'm not all too sure about the Mandarin part, but positive on the Cantonese part.

Are you sure it means pretty? Because I had a friend who thought it would be cool to get a tattoo on her lower back in Chinese characters. She wanted the words to translate to "pretty lady" but it ended up translating to "stupid Yankee b*tch only likes Chinese dick". Well, we all still laugh about it. She'll be out of therapy soon. After her suicide attempt, we decide to have a fund raiser to earn money for the tattoo removal surgery.
