Does anyone have this installed. It's not an official release by microsoft, more of a modded version of Windows XP SP2 I think. See i bought a computer and it has this SP3, and while it's not harming anything, the booting up and shutting down image, and background images in folders are annoying so I am looking for info on how I would uninstall this.

You cannot remove a service pack by going into the control panel and show updates option, as it is integrated into the system. You can remove only cumulative updates and hotpacks.

In order to take out SPs' then you will have to reinstall win xp.
And yes, sp 3 has not been released yet.

Go into Add&Remove Programs (in Control Panel), make sure the box "Show Updates" is ticked, and look for Service Pack 3. Click on it, then click 'Change or Remove' or 'Remove'.
