acually the best dermatologist recommended method is to alternate shampoos so that your scalp does not become resistant to their medications.
you will need..... T-gel, Selsun Blue, Head and Shoulders and Tea Tree Shampoo(sold in salons or walmart)......If you have a budget and cant spend alot on shampoos simply go to walmart and look for their EQUATE brand and look for the following......Tgel, Pyrithium Zinc, Selenium Sulfide and well Tea tree oil in the cheapest brand or order online
What you do is Alternate everyday the shampoo you use:
Monday - Tgel
Tuesday-Selsun blue
Wednesday- head and shoulders
Thursday- Tea tree
Friday-Tgel
Sat- Selsun Blue
and just repeat the cycle. By doing this all the above named shampoos have great medication to help dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis) but when using the same thing everyday you become resistant to it and it wont work any longer...thats why you alternate the shampoos with different Dandruff fighting ingredients so your scalp is always medicated but will never get used to just one shampoo

Selsun blue....really scratch the scalp when washing, this provides penetration that will soon eliminate dandruff and promote healthy hair. These kinds of shampoos can have a drying affect on the hair, make sure you put that moisture back in the hair after you shampoo by putting a conditioner on your hair and placing a plastic cap on your head for 20 minutes, if you have time but you have to do it for at least 5 minutes. the longer the better and the deeper the conditioning. Wash that out and repeat until Dandruff disappears.

I use Jason Biotin Shampoo and conditioner. I had a really bad case of dandruff a few months ago and none of the traditional solutions worked (head and shoulders, tar shampoo, etc) Jason shampoos don't have sodium laureth sulfate, which is usually put in shampoos because it gets nice and sudsy, but it's also very abrasive to skin and scalp - it took about a week or 2, but my scalp has been wonderful since then. Also take it easy on products you put in your hair such as hairspray or mousse.

Though it doesn't smell very good, Neutrogena T-gel seems to work better than other more traditional dandruff solutions such as Head and Shoulders. I highly recommend it, and so do many dermatologists...just use something with a good scent (shampoo, conditioner, styling product, etc.) afterward so your hair doesn't smell bad.

All dandruff shampoos work but it is possible that you can become immune to them. Try switching shampoos frequently. (Make sure that the active ingredient is different each time you switch.) The other suggestions here will help also. (vinegar if your dandruff is caused by a fungus)

I know this sounds weird...but vinegar works REALLY well.
Take a spray bottle and fill with a little distilled white vinegar and then spray liberally on your scalp and massage in. Wash your hair with your normal shampoo and/or conditioner afterwards. You don't even have to let the vinegar sit or anything, just massage it into your scalp and then be sure to shampoo your hair and rinse real good.
I swear it works. I do this maybe once a week, if that much, and it keeps away any flakes or dryness to my scalp.

look, this may sound weird but it really worked for me. Leemon is the solution, make a juice of it or just buy it done at the supermarket, grab a cotton ball and apply it in all the needed zones and then wash your hair normally and PLEASE rinse with lots of water, don't do it very frequently because it can dry your hair a lot, do it like once a week. Ohhh and I forgot, It will make your hair shine much more!!! :-)

T-Gel always works for me. Anything with coal tar works. Head and Shoulders has an advanced formula in the dark blue bottle that is much better than their regular stuff.
