If it's that severe the best thing you can do for you and your family is to get help before things get worse. Severe depression can lead to suicide (not necessarily but if things get rough enough maybe). You're no good to anyone when you are no good to yourself. So I think finding a babysitter or a relative to take your kids so that you can go to the hospital is not the only option but the best. you'll recover faster than you think and you'll leave with coping skills and a better outlook on life. Plus if you check yourself in and can't bear to stay then you can check yourself out.

Go get help! Make sure your children are with someone who is responsible and willing and able to provide good care for your kids while you're away. Explain to your kids that you're sick and need to get help and then go!
