My doctor gave back the culture of my UTI.
And said it was E.Coli or something?

But I thought that was from eating uncooked meat and stuff.
And that you got really sick to your stomach and stuff when you got infected.

I personally thought it was from having sex without a condom and him going inside of me, his bad bacteria.

But no she said it was because of E. Coli?

What is this exactly?
Howd I get it?

E.Coli are bacteria normally found in the gut of all living beings, including yours. Somehow it migrated from where it belonged to the opening of the urethra and up from there to the bladder. It could have been during sex, or you could have transferred it yourself by wiping from back to front. If you have had bad diarrhea in the recent past, it could have happened then. It's a hygiene thing, usually. In future, you can help prevent it by wiping from front to back, and ensuring the boyfriend is nice and clean himself. Also, be careful during sex. If you chose to be on your knees, with him behind you, he can transfer the bacteria that way. Just be careful to keep the front and back doors clean and handled separately from one another. And relax, it happens sometimes. Just take the medications and get well. Do what you can to prevent it in future, but don't get too wired about it.

E. coli is the most common cause of urinary tract infections in women.
It is a from of bacteria that is found in your stool, and since your anus is so close to your genitals, it is easy for it to spread to the urethra. You may be correct about sex being related to catching the infection. Sex manipulates the tissue and spreads the bacteria around. Because the female urethra is so short, it is easy for bacteria to be forced into the bladder during sex. To avoid this in the future, it is a good idea to void after intercourse.
(By the way, the reason that uncooked meat can lead to an infection with E. coli is that sometimes bacteria from the stool of cattle can contaminate the meat at the slaughterhouse; when you eat the meat, you ingest the bacteria and it infects your stomach.)

E. Coli is found in your stool. That is why it is always important for a women to wipe from front to back after they have a BM. Since you most likely did not wipe well after a BM or for some reason did not wipe front to back and the bacteria got into your urethra and traveled to your bladder causing the UTI.
