I went to a community college thanks to a pell grant and I earned 18 credit hours.I went to community college again to take some remedial courses that was also payed with by a pell grant but this time I had to move to texas during the schoolyear and was unable to drop the classes because they were payed with pell grant.

I am not sure how much I owe but I and my family are very broke,I am not sure what to do,the Grant was for like 2 grand and I have no way to pay that back if thats the full amount I have to payback.I do know I owe the college 400 dollars and they wont even let me release my transcripts until then.

I am so confused,I filled out a Fafsa and got a EFC of 00000 so I think I am good on that part but if I dont have the money to repay the Pell Grant will I be able to get a Stafford Loan or with that cause an issue

Thanks So Much,
Danny

This is what is say when I go through FAFSA

he National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) indicates that you have
received at least one overpayment of federal student aid funds. You are
required by law to repay any funds received from the federal student aid
programs to which you were not entitled. You are not eligible to receive any
federal student aid until your overpayment has been resolved.

To resolve your Pell overpayment, call the U.S. Department of Education at
1-800-621-3115, or write to the U.S. Department of Education, P.O. Box 5609,
Greenville, Texas 75403-5609.

You do have to pay them back if you drop your classes. You don't have to pay them back if you got F's in the classes.

Your tale - although unhappy, is a waste of time! think ofyou've got to pay that Pell grant decrease back - its in elementary words forgiven in case you finished the route. For Now - they could't do some thing - yet in case you ever bypass to artwork (i'm confident the toddlers daddy will opt for to assist you and his toddler) you'll have a salary garnishment.

I always thought that a grant was something you didnt have to pay back. Best thing to do is call that number.

You don't pay back grants. They are free money...just like scholarships.
