Well going in thinking you need Xanex is a problem. I assume you've either heard good things about it from other people or you have taken someone else prescription. All I know is if you mention you want a particular medication the doctor will know something is out of place unless you have a logical reason why you want it.
Eating doesn't normally affect anxiety unless you eat a lot of stuff with stimulants in them. Chocolate if eaten in large amount can cause increased heart rate because it has a form of caffeine called xanthine in it. If anything anxiety would be affecting your food intake. Most of the time if you are anxious in my experience you have a harder time eating.
If worrying in and of itself was anxiety then there would be a lot of people with that same medical diagnosis.

I agree with what Mojo says. You shouldn't be taking sleeping pills at you age, unless the doctor gives them to you. My couselor told me at one time that constant worrying would lead to anxiety. When I was going through anxiety reactions all I wanted to do was eat. Like they say, no two people are alike. I doubt very seriously if the doctor will give you Xanax, because it's addictive and harmful, at your age. There are a lot more milder things

Eating and anxiety are definitely connected. My doc. told me to avoid caffeine and nicotine (anything that stimulates the nervous system.) About the Xanax, it's only a quick fix. I suggest you ask your Doc. to prescribe something more long term, such as an anti-anxiety med (Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa etc...) The Xanax will help until one of these has time to get into your system. That usually takes about two weeks. I've been there, so Good Luck!!!

I have the same problem as you. I am 20 yrs old. and anxiety & depression runs in my fathers side of the family. Just go in there and be truthful. Let him know what bothers you, and what gets you upset, and just tell him that your old family doctor had you on them before. If you really do need it, (which I hope you do because I am trying to help you, NOT help you get un-necessary drugs.) Most of the time they will believe you when you tell them you were on them before. Or you could just be truthful and tell them what is wrong, tell them your symptoms, and just suggest that a SMALL dosage of Xanax would help you tremendously. Tell him that you do not want anything in a large dosage because you don't want to be so bad that you cannot function correctly. I am NOT NOT NOT trying to help you get medicine for something you do not need it for. Just simply trying to help you know what to say if you REALLY ARE a victim of anxiety. Alot of people think that just because we are young, we don't have anxiety or problems that bad. But sadly, we do. Honestly in my opinion, we have more stress than older people. We are still trying to find ourselves, become more comfortable with ourselves, etc. You know what I mean if you really do have those problems so I am not going to go on and on. Hope this helps you.

Xanax is anti-anxiety drug in the benzodiazapine class. It is also used to prevent panic attacks and to aid in people that have sleep problems. ativan or lorazapam can also be used as a sleeping medication. It is addictive and over the long haul most people have to increase their dose to attain the same affect. Do not drink alcohol or take other sleeping medication without a doctors appoval while using this drug.

I am here for you concerns my friend. Don't take any anxiety meds period! These meds haywire your brains nurtransmittor system.
they rewire your brains release of dopamine and serotonin. Low levels of serotonin cause mood problems depression anxiety etc..
Your body makes serotonin naturally when its low it probably related to lifestyle and diet. The sun triggers the release of serotonin take a vacation. Also foods rich in dairy have something called tryptophan this chemical is a precursor to serotonin your body needs it to make it. Exercise outdoor activities nutrition work better in the long term. Here is the best example you will feel better if you drink a bottle of whiskey but it will become a crutch and actually cause damage and make things worse.
