few weeks ago i found 250 bucks on the office floor, and though i struggled with it, i gave it to my manager whom in turn passed it to the secretary for anyone to claim. till now, no one has made a claim and i've not heard of it, have i done the right thing? i mean, should i have kept it with myself and see if anyone made a claim? everyone'll probably forget the money and she'll use it eventually. what have i done wrong???

u know, its the struggle in me. "i should have kept it instead, so it wont be misused by the secretary when its forgotten!"
or God might have wanted to relieve my financial situation a bit, that really was wat i thought.

thanks for all advice, i'll approach my manager about it, because i dont want to do a good deed but realise that in the end someone misused the money. i'd rather do some charity with it myself, than to let it be misused. i'll let u guys know wat happened again!

if you had kept it you would have spent months wondering if it belonged to someone that really needed it, and if it is not claimed it should go back to you, so relax and feel good about your self.
go ahead and remind you manager about the money and tell him you should get it if it is not claimed.

Well it sounds like you have a pretty fair communication going with God.
a) Keeping it would have made you suspect.
b) If everyone knew you had found money, you would have become the judge - an uncomfortable place.
c) Giving it to the manager created a powerful witness for your integrity and your faith.
d) What the manager / secretary do is not your concern. You are not their judge and you have surrendered the money.
e) ASK the manager if there is a company policy on returning the money to the finder and what the waiting period is.
f) If the secretary has misused it, then you God is her judge and you have been saved a great deal of misery being involved in her sin.
g) God usually does not use shady shortcuts to help out fiscal problems.
Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Well done indeed.

I think you did the right thing but also realize that it could be in the wrong hands. I would suggest that you hold the secretary responsible by following up. Tell her that you believe that if the money isn't claimed that it should be given to a charity. Be nice about it, don't let her think that you don't trust her. I would even go as far as telling her that you are happy you put the money into the hands of someone who can be trusted to do the right thing. Make her proud to be part of a plan to be as honest as she can be with this money. Treat her like an honest person and she just might surprise you. If you treat her like she is not honest, she will not like that, especially if she truly is honest. Be Mr. nice guy with this situation and remember, you are only responsible for doing your best to be honest, what happens now is not of your doing unless you somehow mess it up by not handling it in a proper manner.

Is everyone here crazy or just pretending to be so righteous...
Where I come from and everywhere else in world I believe that it is 'finders keepers, losers weepers' You have done the right thing by making it known that you had found money. But now since no one has claimed it and it has been a reasonable amount of time, then I believe that you are entitled to it.
Bring this situation up with your manager. Remind him how long it has been since the money was found and ask what the companies policy is in these situations.
Good luck buddy.

God saw what you did. Honesty is the best policy. I would ask your manager and let the cards fall as they may with the secretary. If she spent that money, not doing the right thing, it's on her head, not yours. And if the boss is not willing to give the money to you, which I have to say if no one has claimed it, is rightfully yours....then let it go and let him carry the guilt around on himself. He will have to live with that decision. There will always be situations that arise...lost money, found money, that's just the way life is but how you handled yourself is honest and upright and you are to be commended for handling it as you did. That's a much better reward than money anyhow. Good for you!

First of all, turning it in is to be praised. You DID do the right thing. Most places have a policy if noone claims it, YOU get it!!!
I would inquire as to if anyone has claimed it and IF they say yes, ask who so YOU can follow up. They may try and take it from you.
Even if they didnt claim it and the office stole your reward for finding it.......YOU DID do the right thing and the Lord will bless you for it.
Just doing the right thing will feel better than the 250.00 trust me.
Need help on your finances, pay an honest tithing. 10% of all you earn. TRUST me.. the blessings of tithing are REAL.
Hugs for doing the right thing.

I think you did the correct thing. The way that works is that if no one comes to claim the money, don't you get to keep it. That generally is the way it works after so many days. If I were you, I would ask my manager. If she does not do the right thing, God will reward you Himself for your honesty. May God Bless

YOU be the one to forget about the money - it wasn't yours to begin with. If God intends that money for you then one day when you least expect and most need it, someone will walk up and hand you that money and say "oh yeah, we forgot to tell you, no one claimed it, so it's yours".
Otherwise, just forget about it. You did the right thing, take your reward in heaven and go on to the next treasure.

You did the right thing. The money should go to you if nobody claims it after X amount of time, not the secretary.

even with the police, if no one claims an amount of money in a certina period of time, the finder keeps it. you DID do the right thing, but now, ask the manager if anyone claimed it, and if not, can you have it ? Do not be surprised if he already took/ spent it.
