once u believe that there is No God except Allah(god) and that Mohammad is his Messenger. Once one say this sentence, he is automatically become Muslim. From there, he start carrying on with the duties of Islam.
To become a Muslim, simply say the following words:
Ash hadu alla ilaha illa Allah, wa ash hadu anna Mohammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu.
This means I testify and witness that there is no god worthy of being worshipped other than Allah and that Mohammad is his Messenger. one must say it and believe in it.
there is no conversion process , just say that and believe in that and then follow the teaching of islam.

The phrase is...
"I bare witness that there is no diety worthy to worship but God (Allah), and I bare witness that Muhammad is the messanger of God.
If you finally believe in the phrase that is said, and you know the six basics of the Islamic belief which are
1. The belief in the one and only God (Allah).
2. The belief in the Angels of God.
3. The belief in the Holy books of God.
4. The belief in the Messangers of God.
5. The belief in God's faith (both good and bad).
6. The belief in the life of the hearafter.
and, you will to preform the five basics standards of Islam, which are...
1. The belief in God (Allah).
2. The daily prayers (5 prayers ).
3. Fasting in the month of Ramadan.
4. Giving out charity (called 'Zakah', meaning 'purification of the soul)
5. Attending the 'Hajj', for those who can afford to.
Then you are considered a Muslim.
Peace to all humanity.

When you become a muslim, you declare your faith in God..
you say in english
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammed is the messenger of Allah...
Thats not to say you dont believe in all other messengers.. As a muslim you are required to beleive in all. ie: Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Noah, Adam etc... But they just want to recognize that Mohammed is the last, and the final seal of all prophets..
...^_^ May Allah bless you sister!

This has to be recited in Arabic before one becomes a Muslim: "I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger"

confess with your lips and believe in your heart that there's no God but God and Muhammad is the last and final Prophet of God.
ash-hadu anna La Elaha illa Allah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammad Rasoul Allah.
i bear witness that there's no diety worthy of worship but Allah and i bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
