Einstein once said that the diffence between "genious" and "stupidity" is that genious is limited! I think he would reply that the same applies to superstition and ignorance.
Since nobody knows everything, everybody is ignorant.
Superstition is another matter. Mark Twain once said that being ignorant is not nearly as bad as thinking you know something that ain't so. That's superstition.
Actually, that's not quite superstition, either. I think superstition is believing in something that isn't so when common sense and all experience to the contrary never has a chance to get our attention. We are all guilty of that, I think. It is the way our brain works. It's got another name in psychology: "over - generalization."
Here is a laboratory example: "A chicken is in a cage that has a lever, which when pecked, causes food to drop into its feeder. It takes chickens on average a few hours to figure this out, but occasionally a chicken will do a rotation and then peck to get food.
So what happened? Well the chicken must have turned around just before pecking the lever, and ever since that believed that turning around was part of the requirement to get food. That turn-around movement, in fact, doesn't help get food, but the chicken keeps thinking it does..... afterall, it seems to work! So, he keeps on doing it
. That's superstition.
Hence, the chickens start off being ignorant, but soon learn how to get food. Some pick up superstitions along the way.
Ok, I hope that spells out the difference.
Good Luck!

I do not think superstition is ignorance. It was a way of an explanation for an event or cause before we started analyzing everything. We as mortal humans still have so much more to learn. The more you know, the more you realize the less you know of the universe. God will reveal unto us what he wishes us to know in his time.

Once a time back into the world history, the rituals we consider as superstition were considered as science back then. Time measures the degree of ignorance.

Yeah, pretty much. Why WOULD planets millions of miles away effect your love life for the day? Why WOULD some omnipotent being who created the universe care if you caught the train? Why WOULD throwing salt over your shoulder protect you from the assumed dangers of spilling it in the first place?
