My university edifies a confederate general and has a statue dedicated to him? Is this right or wrong? It has been shown that most if not all of our past heroes, including the founding fathers, Caesar, Napoleon, etc. were all racists, sexists, and pedophiles, yet they are all whitewashed and edified in mainstream history. Should we judge all historical figures by modern day Western standards and demonise those who don't measure up, or should we continue revering the idealized versions of them?

.
Yes ! Of course the present is our time of judgment however in your instance keep in mind one does not have to agree with a statue in everything and a statue is not an admission of ones values but merely a reference in part due to importance or fame .
If your stance were entirely true all statues would be prohibited for no one is perfect. Even a statue of Hitler has merit . Not because he was justified but as a classic reminder of the evil that can happen if we bury the true dangers of naivete or complacency
Although I of course must agree in principle of assuming these people were without fault few came close.

study shows that the reason human beings war with emotion to discover equitable ideas is pinpointed the area of the mind suggested as the insular cortex, or insula, it is also the seat of emotional reactions. the actual shown truth that the mind has this kind of excellent reaction to unfairness shows that sensing unfairness is a common advanced potential. The emotional reaction to unfairness pushes human beings from severe inequity and drives them to be honest. This statement shows our common impulse to be honest isn't a state-of-the-artwork element that we learn. It hence totally illustrates that one and all human beings have morals managed with techniques from the mind and that Christians are entirely incorrect to attempt to declare morals as their personal!!!! yet Christians got here upon a fashion round it!! authorities statistics tutor that christians are extremely over represented in prisons for sexual, violent and fraudulent crime!! The Catholic church is paying tens of millions in repayment for the sex/pedophile crimes of their monks on my own!! Christians are extremely over represented interior the divorce courts!! Christians invented the concept of sin and then the conception that you will be able to sin, ask forgiveness, get pardoned and commence with a sparkling sheet!! So no wonder that they are so specialist at that is it?!!! Atheists hence have a techniques more advantageous moral fibre than christians!!

A lot like negotiable morality?

Most heroes, no matter what their colour or persuasion were not very heroic.

I don't think it is really very important what kind of pigeon roost people choose to spend their money on.

Glory is the thinnest diet I've ever been on.

You can judge their action but NOT THE PERSON.

You NEVER know their heart.

Only God can judge.
