I went to a wedding were the centerpiece was actually a little fish bowl with a fish inside of it. I thought that it was a cool idea because it gave people something to talk about. At another wedding my friend rented a glass piece and put three candle holder on top of it.

1.) Easy to make: buy clear glass dinner plates, and add 3 different height pillar candles that are either all white or match the color of your bridesmaid dresses, anchoring with colored pebbles. Add one pre-made white bow and it's done!

2.) Buy med. sized wicker baskets and wrap small picture frames, in white tissue with ribbon to match your colors, one for each guest. Attach a small gift tag that reads "thank you for the memories" signed, your names. You can also add those disposable cameras to the basket.

3.) Do you have a favorite theme/item that you could decorate with? The beach, victorian era, a specific sports team, etc.. Make it fun!!!

4.) How about a live beta fish in a tall vase with a plant on it? Easy to create and so very different!! I've seen this done and it was a WOW!!!!

5.) You can also rent glass mirrors from Joann's or Michael's and sprinkle with confetti and place one pillar candle in the middle. Sometimes less in more elegant....

7.) Are you candy freaks?? Fill a glass fishbowl container with your favorite candy and let guests know they can help themselves.

If your centerpieces are to be given away that is a perfect opportunity to visit each table and pick out someone special to you and tell them why you picked them.

Without knowing your ages or what type of place you are holding your reception at, it's a little difficult to suggest.

Hope this helps!

Depending on what you decide to do for favors, it can have a dual purpose. You can place the favors in the center of the table as the centerpiece. You can also get beautiful, inexpensive potted plants that is flowering and add tulle to the pot and/or around the base on the center of the table.

try candles...these are great to use if you want to use dim lighting, and it will give such a romantic glow. also, whatever your theme may be, incorporate something that represents it. for example, if your theme is 'beach', you can use a centerpiece that includes sand, sea shells, ocean thingys, etc...there are lots of alternatives. try heading to a craft store and check out their faux flowers. you might be surprised at how 'real' they actually look and feel:) you can save tons of money by creating centerpieces using these, if you still want a floral centerpiece.

You could use a glass bowl that you can get at Micheal's Craft Store for $0.99, fill it with water, add some glitter in the water and put a floating candle in it that you can get at the dollar store. Then spread out some flower peddles around the bowl. Very inexpensive and pretty!!

You could use candles that are lite & lower the light in the room to make a romantic feel. Use a glass bowl, add water & floating items, such as candles, roses, etc.

I had friends who did a different cake or pie at the center so that you could go table hopping for your favorite kind of cake. It was an easy way to make conversation at a table.
