Yes, type F for Ford transmission fluid would be the correct choice.

If it indeed calls for type F, which I think it does, do not use any substitute. The clutches and bands in Type F transmissions had no clutch material on them and run steel to steel. Type F has little to no lubricating qualities or the transmissions would slip.
An old trick was if your transmission slips in your Dodge or Chevy , add a little Type F and it would stop it for awhile, at least long enough to get it fixed.

Yes that is the correct fluid for that car if you can still find it. Lots of manufactures have stopped making it and you can only get mercon type 4 or better. If you can not find the f type you can use the new mercon in your trans as it was made to replaced type f fluid

I have a sorta hooked up stang with a tremech TKO as my tranny. Believe It or not, the best fluid for me Is a GM product. Its called Synchrony mesh and God It does wonders. They are expensive. 12-15 dollars, but if you want longevity go for If. Good luck. Remember, Its call GM Synchro-mesh tranny fluid. It real good with the syncros, best ive ever seen.
