I have a 6 foot cross that I added white lights too and want to put it in the front yard as a Christmas decoration. I was going to put it in the ground, but the ground is frozen. Any suggestions as to how to stablize it from wind so it won't topple over (I thought about cross feet but I think I may need more than that) and yet I don't want it to look 'tacky' with tons of wood braces? Any ideas?

Sure, you can use very strong monofilament (sort of like clear plastic line that string trimmers use) and tie it to the earth with three stakes, like you would see a tree supported. You can also use wire.

you can put it in a big bucket filled with sand and use guy wire/line to stabilize it.

here is a description of guy wires and how to use them
