Luke 11
1And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3Give us day by day our daily bread.
4And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

I pray as long as I like. I don't use any rituals or techniques. Prayer is just about talking to God.

Should you pray for a cancer victim to live, but not a badly burned person? What about a divorce, or a h.s. b/f? Money - how much and for whom?
The questions drove me batty. Then one day, reading the Gospel, I really saw what Jesus said, "When you pray, pray thusly...your kingdom come, your will be done." That is what we are supposed to pray for in each situation, God's will and kingdom.
Now when I pray, I do so with the foundation of the Lord's Prayer and simply mention names. Nothing more is needed. God's will in each situation is perfect.

Prayer is a very powerful tool available to man to purify the mind and gain spiritual strength. Prayer is the foundation of success.
In the most carefully controlled scientific study ever performed on the effects of prayer on healing, cardiologist Randolph Byrd, formerly a University of California professor, showed that prayer is a powerful force in healing and that sometimes it can make the difference between life and death for the sick person.
The sages tell us that for a prayer to be effective, faith in the Divine, concentration of the mind, and positive thinking are necessary prerequisites before, during and after the prayer. If one prays for success and at the same time holds thoughts of failure within, the prayer will not be answered. Sages tell us that the mind is the transmitter of prayers. Thus, a prayer transmitted by a restless mind is akin to broadcasting over a broken transmitter. To receive God's answer to our prayers, sages provide the following instructions for prayers:
Meditate before praying to calm restless thoughts. Keep the body still throughout meditation. "Be still and know you are God."
According to yogic literature, the nerve center between the eye-brows (ajna chakra) is the transmitter of prayer and the heart is the receiver of God's answer to the prayer. If a prayer is properly transmitted, God's answer appears in the form of subtle feeling(s) arising in the heart following the prayer.
To pray, focus attention at the center between the eyebrows and say the prayer mentally with the deepest devotion of your heart. Repeat the prayer until it becomes one with your consciousness.
Always pray to God as His child, who demands the rightful share of all God's bounties. Never pray to God as a beggar.
Only genuine prayers are fulfilled. "If you pray five hours daily that you might become a Henry Ford, that prayer will not be granted," explains Paramahansa Yogãnanda.

It means alot to be original every time so it does not just becomes a chore besides that it's only thought that counts and emotion is also to your advantage.
Catholics use prayers before bedtime or food time, Muslims pray 5 times a day, maybe that's why they're still a power today.

The Bible gives us a guide;ine as to what to involve in our prayers...The LORDS PRAYER is not a recital prayer it is a prayer, it is a model prayer. One that teaches us how to pray.
1. Giving honor to God 2. Asking for his will for us and others in their lives and all situations. 3. Asking for our needs and requests of others 4. Asking forgivness for ourselves and others and asking that we will ask peoples forgiveness too.
For if we do not forgive others,we shall not be forgiven by God
God does not tempt us, but make a way of excape from the temptation if we aill trust him and call upon Him for that grace to see us through. 5. Then we need to be thankful that He listened to us and that HE heard us and the he will answer us. That is where faith and believing comes in! Then expect to see the answers to what you prayed for. This takes a varying amount of time depending on how many things I am pryaing for and how long I wait in prayer, and give thanks and worship Sometimes a few minutes, but sometimes all day long, The Bible does say to pray without ceasing and to rejoice evermore! I alo find sometimes if I walk around the room when I pray instead of kneeling I feel more alert. The Bible doesnot say that one MUST be kneeling when they pray.

When i pray I let my heart say what I want to talk to God about, I just simply speak the words that are come freely from my lips, always being sure to give God all the praise, honor and glory for the triumphs and trials in all that He does in my life.

First of all when you pray you have faith in HIM, that you trust Him and you cannot do anything without Him thats why you approach His throne for answers and enlightening. Talk to Him as He is your father. Talk to him with all your strength, heart and spirit. Invite His presence, without His presence your prayer is nothing.
Adoration- a prayer of praises lifting the Father of all the great things he has done, all the miracles in our lives all the love and salvation He has given us.
Confession- a prayer of cleansing of our hearts as we ask forgiveness for all the sins we have done.
Thanksgiving- a prayer of thanksgiving for all the good things he has given you spiritually, physically, materially and financially.
Supplications- a prayer of continued presence of of God and our Father Jesus Christ as the prayer continue.

All prayers should be directed to God as the Author and Finisher of our faith. There is not conformed words or way to pray. As long as your prayer is hearfelt and sincere, God will hear you. The Bible says that if we seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these(what you need) things will be added unto you. May God Bless
