Yes, the JVC lcd is a good purchase. Samsung,Panasonic,Sharp and Sony made better lcds but it's your choice. Go to the stores and compare them before you make your purchase.

Consumer reports are favoring the Samsungs for the LCD units. They have THE highest contrast ratio (best black, gray, and white levels) and have incredible refresh rates.
When you look at the TVs in the store, wait for one feed to end, and look at the black levels between commercials. Then look at the whites and the colors. If a unit with a black signal is TRULY BLACK, then it's a good indication of a good LCD buy.
If it is light gray, charcoal gray or in some awful cases, "purple-gray", walk away.
The JVC isn't bad and they do make good quality products, but there are better units out there in the LCD category.

JVC brand TVs are widely known as to a very solid Investment, but than again, there are times when thing happen which is not foreseen. so to that you may need to check what type of warranties,.,. and have the store where you are buying it from to specify what the warranty covers and how long,. and to take an-additional Extended warranty this helps,... just so you know nothing is guaranted.,..last be not lease-JCV is a good buy for LCD,.. better than Plasma.
