A world without people of all different background and religions threatening them with hell if they do not convert to their belief system. I know that this world would be a much better place. I guess there isn't anything we can do to speed up the decline; it is steady now, but it will take science far beyond what we have now to convince the most stubborn minds, and even then some won't release themselves from the systems that have destroyed any hope we had for peace for so long.
I will raise my children to be kind from inside themselves, not out of fear of punishment for lacking blind-faith, the same way I raised myself. The world would be a grand place without religion, but I doubt by the time my children grow up they will have that luxury. We can always hope though.

I don't believe I mentioned Christianity? Just one of the many religions.

Jamie, last time I checked Christianity was a religion, one with a violent history.

It will never be possible to live in a world without religion.... people have always believed in something to explain the unexplainable and they always will, it is the first oldest profession

Ideally, Humanity will, over time, breed all the differences into a homogeneous population, where blue eyes and blond hair as well as coal dark skin will no longer exist. We will be one people. Then all we have to do is get rid of stupid religion. The first sign a species is becoming sentient is when they have evolved to the point where they can abstract enough to invent a god. The first time a species achieves sentient maturity is when they get rid of their gods. I hope my children's children may someday live in a mature world.

Good luck, but science isn't going to be any better in bringing about your utopia. Morals become completely relative, man becomes nothing but a carbon life form, a complex machine, but a machine nonetheless. Absolute truth is nonexistent or defined by the ruling few, and there is no reason at all for life, except maybe the pursuit of more knowledge that does what? Nothing. You have nothing to live for except fueling more cycles of scientists.
Raise your children as you wish, I'll raise mine to have hope, and joy, a solid foundation of faith, and something to look forward to, even in death. One of us has got to be right.

A world without religion would be a nightmare. It has been found that the Christian religion is the only one hat gives hope for the salvation soul, However the zeal of some Christians make difficult for some to accept salvation because they are so obnoxious and threatening. That is so sad,

YES!
The sad thing is that people will ALWAYS have religion. It is the opiate of the masses (Marx). It gives them comfort and makes them feel like their is a purpose in life. It gives them order and happiness. Sure there is rape, abuse, and murder all commited in the name of religion, but you can not point to these things and at the same time deny the good that religion does. Food drives, homeless shelters, etc etc...
it is a shame that people need such a horrendously impossible belief structure to get them to do these things.

I can't wait for a world without religion. With total tolerance for all people and no one yelling at you for not bowing down to Jesus and telling you to believe that God created man. When people will believe in science and their own intelligence instead of blindly following after something that someone tells them.

How ignorant / narrow minded / judgemental of you to assume Christians don't raise their children to be free thinkers. Do you want your child to grow up never knowing their father? Neither do I that's why I educate them on their purpose in life and who created them. I wish your children the same knowledge :-)

What about people who threaten them with jail if they steal or smoke a plant or take a pill they have no prescription for.
Like it or not there is always a GOD looking over your shoulder and passing judgement.

i wish my kids could live in a world without pollution, war, murder, theft, lies, racism... but sometimes you have to accept that you can't control what other people do and make the best of it instead of complaining. life is good enough, even with the things we don't like.

As a Christian I agree that children would be better without religion.
Thank God Christianity is not a religion, it's a relationship.
