When you buy a bottle, can, etc. look at the recipt: you are charged a small fee per bottle (I think 48 cents for a 12 pack). so when you return the botttle to a recycling center they give you tham money back, hence the term CA cash refund.

CA CASH REFUND = .05 cents
If you live in California, you get .05 for the jug you are returning.

In Canada if you return a bottle or can of soft drink, tonic, club soda, etc., there's a 5 cent refund. I think you also get a refund on beer bottles or cans.

Just like everyone else said...havent you seen the Sienfeld where Kramer and Newman fill up the mailtruck with empty glass bottles and head off to Michigan (i think). It is so so so funny becasue the do all of these calculations about how much money they would make vs. how much gas etc. It is pretty pretty funny

That means you bought it in California and it is recyclable---so recycle it.They have several jugs,bottles,paper,and cans that you can recycle here.
