Do you think this is a newly discovered species or a diseased member of our own kind and how will the religious leaders explain it to their congregations?

I think they're our "cousins", in a sense. They became isolated living on Flores Island, and ended up becoming shorter. How will religious leaders explain this? I imagine they've already explained it as "God planted those fossils there to test your faith". I'm Christian, but I just believe so strongly in evolution.

Chihuahuas lost the genes for large size.

The "Hobbits" of Flores Island simply lost the big gene too.

They're just small people.

Why do evolutionists always ignore the 12 foot tall human skeletons that have been found? There's a helluva lot more of them than there are little people.

Well, since I don't know anything about them, I'll leave it up to the biologists to explain. Why would the religious feel the need to 'explain' it in the first place? Can't they just stick to god?
