I need to make professional business cards using my mac laptop. I don't care if the program is free or cost $

Depeding on your industry and what you're looking for in the card, I would recommend Adobe's Photoshop or Illustrator, but of course that will cost some $$$ (assuming you get a legal copy). But my suggestion would be to use some type of imaging software.

iWork's Pages is a realy nice page layout program, but I would have a hard time creating a business card in that application without importing graphics made from Photoshop, but if you are going to have some simple rule lines or something, Pages alone would be sufficent. (That mail merge feature sounds real nice, so thank you asker for that suggestion!)

Apple's iWork '06 should do the trick. It doesn't include business card templates, but you can download them from what I've read. Here's a MacWorld article with more info.

Printshop is pretty good and you can make alot of other things with it as well ( calenders, birthday cards, invitations).
