~~~ Betsy ,,,, Having an understanding or acceptance that regardless of your best intentions, Sh*t Happens, and the Universe(your god) isn't finished with you yet,,,,or else you wouldn't have survived to experience this Next Experience which you label a "time of circumstance". Keep perspective that you are and always have been a Spiritual Being having a temporary Human Experience(s). The Hindus, among others, consider Pain/Suffering a necessary aspect of Soul Growth. (It also falls under The Law of Karma) What one needs more specifially though is Inner Strength, which can be found via first by the attainment of "inner peace" ,,, then one draws one's Strength from this Place,,,, Your "inner joy" is entirely up to you and how you React to Anything,,, or you just want to meditate a little and "Zen Out" as they say, and go to your Happy Place within and hence you find "inner joy". Sometimes it takes discipline and practice to not let the Trials and Tribulations get the best of you,,, but you can do it if you truly want. This would be exercising your Gift of Freewill,,, and Acceptance of What Is.
Sing and praise the Lord. Music soothes the savage soul. A merry heart is good for the health, and a body.
Inner joy, and peace, from rightstanding with God, through Jesus Christ.
Inner peace comes from knowing God, that even when you are in those really hard times of life, and we all have them, that God is with you. You don't feel that total despair, but its like a small flickering candle light to keep away the darkness. Its knowing that you have someone higher than you to help and to comfort.I found this with Jesus. People may laugh and call me stupid, but when my dear friend died and I was so devastated I would wake up crying in the night, very depressed over this loss. When I would call on the name of Jesus a calm would come over me and I would go back to sleep. I pray you find this same kind of inner peace.
Not sure what you mean - no one is joyful in bad circumstances. What, are you going to jump for joy if you find out you have cancer? Of course not.
By inner peace, for me it means enjoying the here and the now. Living in the moment, not wishing you had more or better. If you can't enjoy what you have, how are ever going to enjoy what you *don't* have?
This can only come from God. The inner man of a person is their spirit. God is a spirit. God is the only one that can give you that type of peace. This means that no matter what you are experiencing in this world(the outside of the man)God can give you peace in the inner man when there is chaos going on in your world. This peace not only resides on the inside but somehow you also have this anticipation of you knowing that things WILL be alright. It is not that you think they will be alright, you KNOW it will be alright. May God Bless
Joy is not an emotion, it is a gift of the spirit and comes from getting to know God better
(Galatians 5:22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
A lot of Christians and non-Christians complain about it when they pray to be healed by God, and they are not healed.
Or, they complain about other circumstances in their lives.
Inner peace is knowing for sure (physically and mentally) that even though we are sick, or poor, or whatever ..... there is something more important.
And what is more important than health, or money, or comfort while we are here on Planet Earth?
Answer: Eternal life after our stay here on Earth.
Philippians 4:6-8 (New King James Version)
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
trust Christ and remember
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
not all things ARE good, but they all work together for good
No matter we what know that we are forgiven in Jesus Christ and are going to spend eternity in heaven. - so that is joy, it doesn't change and can be held on to no matter what happens - as opposed to "happiness" which depends on circumstances.
Paul wrote in the Bible " to live is Christ, to die is gain" and that sums up the joy of the Christian well.
