I hear many of the christians giving "original sin" as an excuse for the awful things that happen to people.
For example: child rape, dying babies in cancer wards, crack babies etc.
I often hear "If eve hadn't eaten the apple....."

I just want to get this straight...

God is allowing little children to be raped and murdered because an ancient fable states that a woman took dietary advice from a talking snake?

Please explain how any rational person can accept this concept as "truth".

fish: what about they baby? Are they responsible for what happens to them? If you sat back and allowed a baby to be raped, You would be put in prison. Why do you give god a pass for doing the same thing?

Jaime M: Are you kidding? Listen to yourself. Forget the apple....You are justifying a God that sits back and ALLOWS a baby to be raped. What would you think about a Friend or family member who sat back and allowed a person to be raped? Yet you give "god" a pass??? hypocrite

Original Sin cannot be denied by Christians or Jesus' sacrifice becomes unimportant. All life has to be spoiled so that God seems to be a mercy-killer.

Which is why the entire concept is suspect. Cruelty of God??? Never!!! Simply imply that the crack-baby was sinful, through the actions of the first woman, and now God seems to be doing the child a favor.

Understand? Me neither - smells like horse-dung. If the God of the Bible is truly aware and omnipotent then surely he is cruel.

Well the idea of Eve and the apple is that she did create the first sin. Before she ate it, she and Adam had no idea what sin was. Because she ate it, her eyes were opened in a way that made her see all the choices not just the good ones. People may use that excuse because Eve listened to Satan and disobeyed God. That sparked sin. When people sin, it creates a foothold for Satan to enter their minds and hearts and whisper all sorts of evil ideas and suggestions. The rapists and murderers in this world are pawns of the Devil. They chose to turn their back on God and to ignore him. Now if God was a manipulating tyrant, he would force everyone to follow him, but instead He wants us to come to Him because we want to not because we have to. Ironically people get mad at God because He doesn't make the world perfect, but then they don't want to be forced to follow any religion. Anyone else see the immaturity here?

I don't know if there is an original sin. If I assume that there is such a thing, then the best way I can define it, is that the original sin, was the first time..."two or more people, were gathered together and went against the creator's plan". Using freewill, people became a society that chose to create their own version of how the world would be.

Today, as a massive society we continue to allow horrific events to occur, including the pain inflicted on children. As a society we need to focus on preventing further harm to our own race and especially to our own young ones.

The only "original sin" that makes any logical sense is our own decision to cause harm to ourselves and to our planet.

original sin is a Catholic teaching- it is NOT in the bible. So, to CORRECT your question, it should say- "Catholics giving original sin as an excuse..."?
God allows all of us to be subject to pain and suffering no matter what our faith is. The Bible tells us that it will rain down on the just and the unjust. People create evil. People get pregnant and decide to murder the baby. A Doctor, again a person, murders the baby for money. Let's blame God for everything and not blame those that are the cause. - pretty ignorant.

First of all the Bible is a book of actual history, as has been verified numerous times by numerous different sources. Until you get this point you can not ever hope to understand anything about the Bible.
Secondly, the original sin -the fall of Adam and Eve- is indeed responsible for all the acts of sin in the world. Mankind is born in rebellion against God and separated from Him because of the original sin.
Thirdly; Individual acts of sin are always -and I emphasize the word always- the act of a human being who has made a choice to sin against God. No one holds a gun to their head and compels them to do what ought not be done.
Fourth; Disease and sickness are from Satan and death as well. Death is a resulting punishment by God for the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. This disobedience, like all disobedience, was a choice that was freely made. Of all the trees and other food which Adam and Eve could've eaten -including the Tree of Life- they chose the only tree from which they were not supposed to eat. "For since by one man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive" -1 Cor. 15:21,22
Fifth; It is not necessary for anyone to perish because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Also, in His name, those who have faith and request it and are prayed over by other believers with the laying on of hands can be healed of sickness
Sixth; If all governments obeyed God's commands and rendered unto these criminals their just punishments, things would not be so bad

Why is God always the one being blamed? Don't people take responsibility for thier own actions anymore? The mother has a choice to not abort her baby, and instead put it up for adoption. The doctor has made the choice to perform the procedure. People make choices, and God is blamed for the consiquences.

Your question is out of sync with the issue of Adam and Eve.
In the Garden of Eden something died in the place of Adam and Eve. I believe as scripture states that an animal something innocent was killed by God himself to cover the nakedness of them, because with out words at that point, God was making a provision for sin committed. Which pointed to the coming of Jesus Christ to pay for the sins of the world.
DOES SIN EXIST IN YOU? HAVE YOU EVER LIED?
HAVE YOU DISHONORED YOUR PARENTS. Have you coveted someone elses property.
If you committed any one of these sins you have broken the cord from heaven and you are disconnected from His fellowship with you. That disconnectedness from God is why rape, abortion and our lying adds to the destruction of society. http://www.carm.org/seekers.htm

BY THE WAY GO TO AN ABORTION CLINIC AND PICKET. HAVE THE POLICE COME BY AT MIDNIGHT WHILE YOU ARE STILL THERE. BUT CALL THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER FIRST AND HAVE THEM BRING A CAMERA TO TAKE YOUR PICTURE FOR A STORY.
THAT ACTION MAY HELP YOUR CONVICTIONS.

'Look, if I went around proclaiming myself king because some watery tart lobbed a scimitar at me - you'd say I was a looney!'

You don't understand what it is you're mocking, and if you're totally adverse to it there's no point in me wasting my time trying to explain it to you. It's like the old saying - 'There's no point in trying to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.'

If you'd like to talk about the matter for real, hit my profile and e-mail me. If you're just ranting, I understand, but c'mon - you think stuff similar to this doesn't get posted two dozen times a week? It gets old. But, maybe someone is praying for your salvation and you're currently under a spirit of conviction. Read the Word, man - the Holy Spirit will open it up to you if you want. Peace.

The apple had nothing to do with it, it could have been a banana, or a potato.

When Adam didn't cover his wife and Eve disobeyed. It gave satan free reign in the earth.

Genesis 3:1 states "The serpeant is the most cunning beast of all the field."
When satan got free reign one thing he immediately did was attack humans. You want to get mad at God how about getting mad at satan. God gave orders knowing that if they were disobeyed what would happen.

God gave authority to Adam but Adam gave it to satan. satan has free reign on this earth. Satan is known as the father of lies and as a roaring lion.

Satan is out to destroy all humans, believers and non-believers.

And yet you want to prove God wrong, That is what is not rational.
God allows those things because we don't allow God into our schools, lives, relationships, movies, songs and every other aspect of our lives. He allows them because we allow them.
Why don't you turn your anger toward the one person trying to kill you----------satan?
