The majority of people on the planet now, live and die (not once but twice) to fulfill the saying 'he who dies with the most toys wins'. People who DO say they live for God, generally don't instead they live for money and posessions. They think God is for Sunday mornings, for one hour. That fulfills the prophecy, many will be called and few will be chosen.

Well we are floating on a rock around a star; we really don't have a purpose. God gives us a purpose. Sometimes it's to save the princess from the tower with the dragon, other times it's to pull a thorn from a lion's foot. My purpose is to sort boxes in a warehouse and come home to some loving parents. Also I'm looking for a girlfriend.

You assume that there is a god who made you -- a personal god that you can pray to and have your selfish little wishes either granted or denied, a god that kills your relatives in car crashes to test you (for what you have no clue) and if you pray hard enough, aunt Thelma just might live....Then, of course the question arises that if there is a god, and he(?)--{why would it have to have a penis and testicles}--- were omnipotent and merciful, how could he then be both.... if he were merciful, aunt thelma would have never been killed, and if he were omnipotent, he could have made it so she never crashed...... In this version of religion, fundamentalist christians are really stuck between a rock and a hard place, and most admit it -- even the ministers do..... If you start with a bigger idea, this question makes no sense....
And of course the obvious question, is why does there have to be a point to life????? Whose idea was that??? Yours????

What is the point of creating a world and filling it with people to tell you how great you are and do your bidding? If God is all-powerful, why does he need followers in the first place?

I just wanted to add some more details to your Q. We are here to serve gods purpose and jesus was a great teacher and it is worth teaching his teachings, but his divinity is questionable and should be left out of your sermonizing. All religions agree, to go to heaven you must be a good and loving person, but jesus is just one path of understanding, and fighting over him being gods son and is the only path to heaven is satans insertion into christianity. do not worship satan

The point is to live and explore. If we are here to serve God, doesn't that mean we were created to be slaves?
