Call MS and tell them your situation. Activation usually catalogs several items on your computer and makes a code based on that. So if you have most of your computer minus your HD you should be in good shape. Give MS a call, they probably have other component ID's from your legitimate activation on file and can verify your problem and give you your key.

See no worries.

On the other hand if you don't like paying for MS software try Linux, its a free OS, its actually really good now, and you can run your pirated Windows version software using Wine. At least thats what I hear...

as long by way of fact the product you're setting up is the comparable by way of fact the product you have the biggest for, it is going to deploy. The disks themselves are no longer coded with a particular key. All XP professional keys paintings with any XP professional deploy disk, domicile windows MCE w W MCE disk, XP domicile edn. with XP domicile edn. , etc.

no matter what the circumstances, asking for someone else's product key is illegal and considered stealing. If you had XP purchased with a new PC, the label is on the side of your PC. if you purchased it separately and lost the key, then you can either call microsoft and beg, or you will have to go purchase a new copy.

If you had a LEGAL copy of XPpro, and registered it with Microsoft, they will USUALLY supply the needed key if you explain your problem.
