Why is it that more and more hospital emergency rooms are being ran be paramedics then nurses? Do you doctors prefer paramedics working in the ER then nurses???

Because the paramedics can basically perform all nurse responsibilities, except they are paid a paramedic's wage, which is significantly lower than an RN's.

Some are using some paramedics, but not replacing nurses. Paramedics have some skills that nurses as a rule don't, but the converse is even more true. But the main reason you're seeing this is that paramedics are less expensive, especially with the current nursing shortage. And emergency nurses are a special breed, indeed.

Probaly not, although paramedics are the first responders with medical knowledge. Therefore, they should be able to give the doctors accurate and timely information, information a nurse may not have simply because they are not on the scene. Also, if you don't allready know, we are currently very short on nurses (bad for a patient) and doctors will take anything they can get.
