It was indeed. A shining example of intolerance.

The word fundamentalist wasn't coined until the 1900's and it means back to the roots of the religion...or the fundamentals. The Spanish Inquisition was not a fundamentalist movement, in fact it was very much against the fundamentals of the Christian religion.
They did it in the name of religion...but it was not a true religious act. Same as people who do things in the name of religion today...like the "Islamic" terrorists...

You should check out the book "Battle for God" by Karen Armstrong....it's about the fundamentalist movements in all the major religions...very interesting...very scary!
BTW...I am not a Christian, I'm a Pagan

Christian Fundamentalism is a term that only has meaningful application within the last 150 years, especially in America. The Spanish Inquisition had far different circumstance, most of which involving the reclaiming of lands taken by Muslims. Don't be shy to read a little history in your spare time.

I don't know anything about the Spanish inquisition - but I'd bet my bottom dollar it was a Roman Catholic thing?

If it was - then ask them - because it is completely against the message Jesus brought us to hurt or kill people to force people say what we want them to say.
