I am looking for a passage that says that after you have forgiven someone, and they continue to hurt you, that you don't have to deal with them anymore. I know what the bible says about forgiveness. That isn't my problem. I have a close family member that I can no longer deal with. I can't have this person hurting me and my children anymore, and breaking out hearts. They have become a toxic presence in our lives and I have had enough. I feel I must cut this person out of my life. I just want to know what the bible says before I do. I need specific verses to look up. Thanks for your help.

TJ God is not stupid. He wants the welfare of your children to come first.
If this is a parent or grandparent, then you have some problems.
You need to really pray and seek God in this.
God will tell you what to do.Jesus loves your children,he hates to see them hurt. But if its a dad,be very careful,it can turn on you.
Do you have a Pastor you can talk to?They have the wisdom to help you understand this trial.I have prayed for you.I know God would love to hear from you.
God be with you.
I know of no verse that tells us to stop forgiving. But sometimes Jesus will allow you to shake the dust from your feet and move on.

Try these.
Exodus 34:7; Numbers 14:18; Genesis 45:5,7; Joshua 2:13; I Kings 1:12; Jeremiah 48:5-6;

BOOK: The Miracle of Forgiveness by Spencer W Kimball
is a good reference.

My understanding of forgiving and protecting ones self and family are different from each other.

Forgiving someone is to let God handle their sin, weather they repent or not. Forgiving others lets you progress.

Protecting your self against harm allows you to still forgive them for your own sake. That does no mean that you have to keep them in your life.

Well now, you did not say what the person is doing to be so toxic as you put it. If it is just petty stuff that you don't like, then there is no excuse to put this person out of your life.
HOW EVER, if this person is committing the sins that displease God, Lying, Murdering, Fornication, Worshiping Idols, Divination, Drunkenness. Then here is a scripture or two.
1Corinthians 15:33 Do not be misled, bad associations spoil useful habits.
2Corinthians 6: 17 Therefor get out from among them, and separate yourselves from them says Gog Almighty, and quit touching the unclean things, and I will take you in.

Non of the scriptures in the Bible cover Personal Hurts, All the Scriptures say to mend your fences over personal things,
The only reason to separate yourself scripturaly from some one is if their behavior is Displeasing to God Almighty, then you must FLEE from Her My People. or as Revelation said in relation to false religion Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice out of Heaven say: Get out of Her , my people if you do not want to receive part of her plagues, if you do not want to share in her sins.
No passage ever advocated" LACK OF FORGIVENESS" on a personal basis in any Bible , no matter what so called Christian group writes the interpretation

I cant think of a specific verse but in one of his letters Paul wrote and said to expel the man that had sexual relations with his mother from the church This verse is probably not helpful but I hope it turns out all right for you and your family and Ill pray for you

(Matthew 18:22) Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

(1Peter 5:7) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Do you know any part of the verse? I may be able to help if I knew a couple of words.

Well, Jesus said in the way that you forgive others for their trangression that is the way that God will forgive you. So if you cut them out of your life, then I suppose God will cut you out of His life.
