I do!!!! I do!!!!
It's beyond hypocritical how people are supportive of Bush's war in Iraq when they or their kids don't have to fight and die in Iraq! Bring back the draft and let's see how hawkish the country club set is!
P.S. Having your friends in Iraq isn't the same.

Yeah, a veteran named Charlie Rangel, Democrat from NY. He did it to put on record the cowardly Republicans who DON'T want a draft b/c their Republican kids will have to go!

Bravo for you, a Republican who actually served his Master. My point is this: if EVERYONE had to share in the burden of implementing Emperor's insane foreign policy mistakes, perhaps Americans would think twice about sending their family members into the abyss. By the way, where is Osama bin Laden, Mullah Omar and how many Iraqis hijacked those planes that hit the WTC on 9/11? Or perhaps you'd to refresh my memory...why did we invade Iraq?

Thanks for your response Big Blair. I don't even know where to begin to respond to your non sequitur, however, I was directing the question at the big army man who can't even answer a little girl

Armygirl91: Nice try. Charles Rangel wants to bring back a draft so EVERYONE, even the privileged like the Bush Family types can serve and bear the burden of insane foreign policy decisions, like invading an impotent 3rd World dictatorship that posed no threat to our national security.
Anyone else? "Bring 'em on!"

i think they should draft some old ones to so this war will hurry up and get over with.If we had been drafting old republicans 4 years ago i think Iraq would still be governed by Saddam Hussein yes kitty it was a democrat that suggested the draft for the purpose of getting some republican children in there so the war would end soon.

Hey if the Democrats bring back the draft I say draft young REPs, DEMs and Independents. And are you so ignorant to think that Democrats don't join country clubs! Hoe naive can you be.
And hey Charles Rangle from MI? You must have missed his sound bite yesterday when he said that YES he plans to once again introduce his bill HR 163 if you didn't know (originally intro'ed 2003) when the Democrats take control of the Congress...shoots down your added comment regarding you "opinion" asto why he introduced the bill originally. And I see you didn't mention that Senator Hollings (D-SC) introduced a billed to start up the draft again (Universal Selective Service Act) in 2003. It was S89 if you care to look it up. Since he retired in 2005 I guess Rep Rangle is carrying the ball.
I was in Iraq for 18 months and my cousin is over there now on a second tour. We are both Republicans so it is personal for and my family. Sorry I am not a member of any country club...disappointed?
Hey...how many liberal Democrats did you think with flee to Canada after their Democratic leaders activate the draft? Oh Canada, Oh Canada....come on you must know the words to their national anthem.

I am a Republican and I voted for President Bush both times, and I would vote for him again in a heartbeat! I was also in the U.S. Army for 4 years. My older brother is in Iraq right now. He is a Major in the U.S. Army.
I think we should draft all young Dems, because that is what Charlie Rangel wants. Lets give it to him!

Why did we invade Iraq?
Weapons of Mass Destruction. Saddam DID have them, had used them against his own people, against Iran, and against Israel, but obviously got rid of them before we got to them. However, even Iraqi Generals serving at the time of the war expected Saddam to employ them. Can you expect our intelligence on the Iraqi military to be better than that of the Iraqi military itself? Perhaps. Obviously an intelligence failure.
Why should we stay? Islamists are flocking to Iraq, so allow me and my men to fight them there rather than worrying about attacks on our homes in the US.
I have nothing against those who join country clubs, but I think you are dead wrong to characterize them as pro-war Republicans.
Did you ever think that the media does not accurately portray the situation in Iraq? Did it ever occur to you that CNN and the New York Times refuse to higher reporters that don't share their liberal views? If you want a good idea of what is going on, come on over. I will welcome you with open Arms, but volunteer.
The draft will only force substandard people into my ranks. I don't want that to happen.

There is no draft numbnuts. The military doesn't want a draft because they have no interest in taking people who don't want to be there. I had draftees in my platoon in Viet Nam and they were more of a threat to my safety than the enemy. The only draft around here is that picolo-sounding breeze blowing through your ears.

If you really want to be fair have mandatory military service for everyone. 1 or 2 yrs whatever. Lots of countries do it. That's the only way for the privileged not to avoid service.

While I think that it is great that we have an all volunteer military...I think in times of war...we should automatically reinstate the draft...that way everybodies kids get to go...regardless as to what you ethnic background is and how much mommy and daddy make.
It is a proven FACT the people in lower incomes are the ones to go because the military is the only chance that some people have for college.

I thought that most young voters initially registered as Democrats, and didn't become Republicans until their childhoods were completely behind them. Go ahead, thumbs down me, I am feeling a little rambunctious tonight.

In draft there is no difference made as to whether they are Democrats or Republicans, but it is my opinion that more liberal Democrats would try to flee.
