After WWI the US gave russia 8 billion rubles in aid that was never repaid. The rest of the allies added another 5 billion rubles. During and after WWII russia received 20 billion US dollars in aid from the US and Canada and never paid any back. 10 billion dollars in grain from the US in the 70's again never paid back. Without aid from the the billions of dollars of aid from the allies there wouldn't be a russia today. In your opinion, how has this affected relationships between russian and the West?

I would partially agree with the money issue. Being in debt to someone is a stressor. A country being so far in debt as the USSR/Russia is/was to the US and her Allies had to really tick off the communist. Imagine spreading all your anti-American and pro communist propaganda all over the USSR knowing its a lot of crap. The US has always been prosperous (with the exception of the depression). Russia has never really been prosperous and still isn't today. I was stationed in Moscow for 3 years and it is a totally different world. They are also so jealous of the US it is scary. The women of Moscow were always trying to hook up with us hopefully to get out of the country. Even today look up Russian Bride Websites. They hate it there compared to the life the see us living. Russian females love Americans and Brits. Another reason for resentment of the US and UK. Space Race? Who won? US. Add that to the fire of Russian resentment. The cold war didn't help either. The US offering aid to countries like Afghanistan didn't help. Russia aiding North Vietnam and Korea threw a monkey wrench in many Americans feeling for Russia. Over all we are just to different to ever get along. I have many friends in Russia and many have came to the states to live and work. When was the last time you saw a website of American woman trying to meet Russian men. Jealosy, resentment, different political party systems, unpaid debts. All of them add up to a hatred of anything not Russian by Russians and a lack of trust of the Russians by the US and UK.

Check your word usage, gave means Russia never had to repay , but trival. The tension (the cold war) heated up when the USA, France and Great Britain as allies had the opinion to return the sovereignty to Germany and western Europe and Russia wanted some type of revenge on Germany for war autrocities; such as control. which they ended up doing in a warlike fashion.

I don't think that is the source of resentment. I think Russians enjoyed the Communist system and a country with such a high concentration of wealth in the hands a few, it threatens the US. Otherwise there are no sore feelings. Much love from NYC, Russians have an awesome sense of humor.

HA HA HA, russia has repaid back all it's debts, including the paris club debts, and also cancelled all african debts, which the u.s and its allies refuse to do...haha who's had the last laugh now? if you think that by expanding n.a.t.o memeber countires by including former soviet block countires is going to make grabbing russia's oil ,gas, and natural mineral wealth that easy think again!! they will be wiped off like nazi germany. why is it nazi sympathsisers can't handle the truth?
