I guess he is young and horny.You may have to wait a few years until his hormones settle down.Its possible for a young teenage boy to get an erection riding on a bus let alone kissing a pretty girl.

Yes, you turned him on, or the simple act of kissing did. Yes, it is very normal!! I would not speak to him about it, because he prob was very emb. He'll prob make sure it doesn't show again. If it realy didn't bother you and you're ok with it then, don't act any diff. next time you kiss him. I'm sure if he's a young man then he will be a little more shy about it next time, but maybe not. Not a big deal!!! It happens to all of us guys at some point.........maybe several times.

Yes, it is normal. Depending on how old (young?) he is, he may not be able to control it very well. Not that erections are that easy to control for older guys either...
He was probably turned on. If you don't want him to feel embarrassed, talk to him. Tell him that it is okay, but be clear with him about your boundaries. Clear, honest communication is important in every relationship.

yes you probably did turn him on. kissing can certainly get those hormones flowing.. sometimes erections happen out of the blue. it's not something guys can control
