You'll be fine. There is a sting, and some pressure if they use lidocaine to numb the injection site. Then no pain. And the nasty ingrown toe nail will be gone, and that is blissful!

I had it done when I was in high school several years ago. The process is quite painless. For me, they used a small can of something similar to liquid nitrogen to numb the area and the made a teeny incision in the skin surrounding the nail, snipped it and put a plain band-aid on it. I was fine after that. For future reference though, you might want to invest in a pair of toenail scissors and cut your toenails with them instead of clippers, and ALWAYS cut straight across, never round out your toenail...thats what causes ingrown toenails in the first place.

BTW what psycho is referring to is Lidocaine, not whatever it was that he spelled.

It just feels like any other shot really....but your toes is just a little more sensitive since its sore already just make sure that when the Dr. asks if its numb be sure that you tell him the truth because its better to get another shot than to experience the pain of them pulling out the nail!

The shot will have a certain level of discomfort, depending on your tolerance for pain. I can tell you it feels a lot nicer than digging the nail out yourself!

took four shots to numb my toe, first shot was a prick, rest were just sticks. had to to both big toes, but best thing I have ever done to eliminate toe pain.
