Right.
Although fundamentalist is a stupid word.

I think you can be Christian and not believe everything in the Bible. Jesus did not write the Bible; Constantine Emperer of Rome edited the book, deciding which books would be included. Many books were never included and lost. The books of the new testament were not written until over 100 yrs after Christ death. There is some wisdom in the book, as there is in all holy books. You don't have to be a fundamentalist to be a Christian. Add to what Ive said the fact that religeons over the centuries have interpreted the words of the Bible in many different ways, and I don't see how anyone can truly believe everything in the Bible is meant literally and all of it is true.

Oh, gosh, no.
Bible literalism is a pretty recent thing in the history of Christianity. For nearly two thousand years Christians understood the bible to be a mystical approbation of the transcendent.
I would venture to say, in fact, that fundamentalism is the way NOT to be a Christian, because in their efforts to preserve their religious tradition from what they fear is an effort to marginalize or destroy them, they are throwing the baby out with the bathwater. They are losing the very thing they seek to preserve; they are changing the essential Christian message of practical compassion into a gospel of fear and rage and hatred and exclusion.

Right on, but remember that if there are any seeming conflicts to allow the passing of time with future knowedge be the rule to live by rather than come to the conclusion that the book is fiction because any fair minded person would say that the archeological finds aid in furthering the truth of scripture. Two former athiests come to mind that you should read about are below.

remember humans translated the Bible and humans make mistakes, the Bible is suppose to be instruction and examples of the way we are to live , but i feel some of the original meaning have been lost in the translation of God's words to us.

Do you know any Christian religions that do what the Bible says
do, instead of what they interpret the Bible to mean to do

ALL of the Bible is 100% correct. The old saying, if your rubbing the cat the wrong way, let the cat turn around, so true. If you don't agree with it, turn around (repent).
Be a Fundy even if it hurts. Stand on the Word of God!!!!

You are assuming that all Christians believe God had stenographers. Man is a flawed being, therefore it is entirely possible that there are flaws in the bible. I am a Christian, I aim to follow the spirit, not the letter, of the law. Jesus' law is love, that's enough.

I don't think that's the only true way to be a Christian. Just seems that's what we're getting used to.

That's right. You gotta take it 100% or none at all. The bible does not leave room for fence straddling.
